Carbon Steel AISI 1215 is a fast cutting steel and is considered the standard screw stock. 1215 is a re-sulphurized and re-phosphorized free machining steel, commonly referred to as screw machine stock due to cutting speeds and machining characteristics being excellent. Well designed for automatic screw machining where the requirement is exceptional free-machining quality that produces a smooth, bright finish.
This material is also used for bushings, inserts, hydraulic hose fittings, couplings, studs, pins, and similar applications. Outside of ordinary machining, AISI 1215 responds well to roll threading and minor bending without cracking but fails in parts subject to severe fatigue stress.
AISI 1215 Specifications:
- AMS 5010
