Alloy Steel 4340 | UNS# G43400 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy steel that demonstrates good toughness and good fatigue resistance. When heat treated, Alloy Steel 4340 maintains good wear resistance, good atmospheric corrosion resistance, and other similar traits. Because of these desirable characteristics, Alloy Steel 4340 is often used in commercial and military aircraft, machine tool applications, crankshafts, and other automotive uses.
